Purple Power Play has celebrated the start of fall and sports in Manhattan, Kansas, for more than 30 years, serving as the region’s largest pep rally to kick off the season!

The event takes place at Blue Earth Plaza on the Friday before the first home football game.

Vendors, food trucks, inflatables and a beer garden open the evening at 5 p.m., with live entertainment beginning shortly after.

Purple Power Play features local talent alongside regional entertainment leading up to the main event.

The K-State Marching Band, along with the Classy Cats, K-State Cheer, Willie the Wildcat and several K-State teams, join the celebration to share excitement for their upcoming seasons and energize the crowd. The evening concludes with a fireworks finale!

Each year, we look forward to welcoming new entertainment, vendors and food offerings. If you’re interested in being part of the event, please reach out through our contact form.

Purple Power Play is organized by a board of six local volunteers. Funding is made possible through sponsorships and vendor booth fees — and we truly couldn’t do it without your support.
